Decree No. (31) of 2024

Forming the Board of Trustees of the

 UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia)[1]

We, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai,

After perusal of:

Law No. (3) of 2015 Establishing the UAE Water Aid Foundation (“Suqia”) and its amendments;

Law No. (27) of 2021 Concerning the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (“DEWA");

Decree No. (17) of 2021 Forming the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia); and

Decree No. (1) of 2023 Concerning Governance of the Councils/ Boards and Committees Affiliated to the Government of Dubai,

Do hereby issue this Decree.

Formation of the Board of Trustees

Article (1)

a.    The Board of Trustees of Suqia is hereby formed under the chairmanship of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, and with the membership of:

1.    a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;                              

2.    a representative from the UAE Red Crescent Authority;        

3.    a representative from the United Arab Emirates University;                                   

4.    a representative from Khalifa University of Science, Technology, and Research;                          

5.    three (3) representatives from DEWA; and  

6.    the Chief Executive Officer of Suqia.                        

b.    The representatives of the entities referred to in paragraph (a) of this Article will be nominated by the officials in charge of these entities, and must be holders of senior positions in grades that are not lower than the ‘executive director/ chief executive officer’ grade or similar grades.

Commencement and Publication

Article (2)

This Decree comes into force on the day on which it is issued, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
